Polar Orbiting Passive Atmospheric Calibration Spheres, three 10cm diameter spherical satellites used to measure variations in the upper atmosphere in auroral regions, carried a dispenser of similar size to a 3U CubeSat, developed and funded by a group including Morehead State University of Kentucky, the University of Arkansas, Montana State University and Drexel University of Philadelphia.
